Who is Pleo?

The emotion that I had, when I saw it first time, is amazement, laugh, and curiosity... Well, actually I also wonder how far this will go? I didn't know much about Pleo, but once I saw how it behaves, he left me amazed.
Apparently, it's a full replacement for a pet. Kids love him, seniors love him. Based on the creator, it actually fully replaces a need for a live pet.
So, what, or who is Pleo?
Pleo is an amazing electronic toy, but nothing like the usual toy.
Per official website, every Pleo is autonomous. Each one of them has it's own individuality, and that's what's so amazing. It has it's own mind, and mood, and on top of it, can change it, same as we do.
Pleo has extremely large number of sensors, so if you call out to him, or shine a light, he will respond, just like us.
There are tons of sensors in Pleo, so he knows when you talk to him, when you touch him.
It seems to be a very durable product.
At the bottom of Pleo, there is an SD card slot to load the personalities, that other people put together. So, Pleo can instantly learn Christmas jingles. The company supplies PDK (development kit), so those who are interested can customize their Pleo as they like.
