Big Green Egg Charcoal Grill Smoker Review

Big Green Egg
Have you seen one of those large green eggs in someone's backyard?
Or maybe even better question would be are you one of us who would keep barbecuing over and over, day and night?
For any BBQ enthusiast and grill lover, Big Green Egg is a true solution.
It is more than just a BBQ. It's part of the barbecuing culture, and once you get hooked and start cooking all those beautiful meals, you won't be able to imagine switching back to natural gas BBQ.
Must have Big Green Egg Accessories:
- Char-Broil 2984810 Electric Charcoal Starter Wand
There is no easier, more hassle-free way to start a charcoal fire than by using one of these. As long as you have access to an electric outlet somewhere in the vicinity of your grill, you'd be foolish to use any other method. - Big Green Egg Cookbook
Extensive color photography and more than 160 delicious recipes utilizing the unique cooking abilities of the EGG; many of the recipes were inspired by EGGheads and EGGfests. Inventive recipes ranging from modern twists on tried-and-true barbecue ... - Nammu swimming bandana
Cool bandanna when you fire up your Egg. Nammu protects you from harmful UV rays!

Setup and installation
Ok, first, I apologize but unfortunately, I don't have any pics of putting it together. It was tricky. First, two of us brought it back home in our minivan. Honestly, it wasn't easy at all. Big Green Egg is heavy, well, at least for sure, extra large version. You can order it with delivery and I guess assembling, but I just couldn't do it. Seeing it there, and being stubborn as I am, couldn't wait for another day, plus it adds up, financially.... So, we disassembled it from carton boxes, and loaded it into car, in pieces.
Now, very important, and sometimes very hard part, is to read the instructions. If at all possible, read in full and then start assembling. There are couple parts that I put together, and then on the next page the instructions would say, now you put this part, together with that... But I already put the whole thing together wrongly... So, yes, call me stupid, and I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions properly, but I think if I read it in full before starting the assembly, I wouldn't make couple minor mistakes. Don't get me wrong, it's not a big deal, but you don't want to waste the time. Second important thing is: assemble it where it will sit, if possible at all! It's not easy to move fully assembled B.G.E.
Comments
I used to buy their own brand of charcoal, which is really good, but now all I care is that it's 100% wooden charcoal. You should not go with briquettes, or shouldn't put any starters and stuff like that. The smell of a starter would stay there for a long time, and spoil the smell of food. I found electrical starter for $15 at Home Depot.
Paul,
Please send couple words and pictures of your Kamado :) That's even couple notches above BGE. I bet you are barbecuing this weekend on it, haha
It didn't come! One more week. I'll definitely be posting about it.
I've heard some real horror stories about Kamado. Rocco do you frequent the eggheadforum.com?
Hi Tony :) Oh, that's your site with all those recipes??? Very impressive, honestly... I cook on Egg frequently on the weekends, but what you did there is way out my little league. Such a variety of meals. Wow. Truly impressive. Btw, I'm about to try many of your recipes. I put your link up there, because, just looking at all those meals, and pictures, is a real treat. I don't know about Kamado, but I'm pretty sure Paul will tell us, and hopefully, we'll hear a very positive feedback. I never signed up for eggheadforum, but may do that now.
Thanks for visiting here, and watch for my next set of pictures and egg-meals :)
Reckon two tongs would be a good idea-one for raw and one for cooked chicken!

Nice review and pictures of the BGE. I should get my Kamado style cooker this week. I hope there are several BBQ fanatics on HubPages that share lots of recipes. Pizza will be one of the first things I cook.
What kind of charcoal do you use in your BGE?
