Funny, how sometimes timing is everything... I was reading an article with a link to Aza Raskin's work, and then stumbled upon his cardboard furniture. Yes, you read it right. Cardboard furniture called Bloxes. As the team explains, bloxes are life-sized cardboard building blocks: "blocks" + "boxes" = "bloxes"!
So, we are in a process of thinking how to re-make our office space and make it modern, out of ordinary, yet cozy and warm. Modern and warm doesn't go well with me, since I rather prefer wood, country, fireplace type of environment to get it warm.
Anyway, we went through number of discussions and ideas, but nobody thought of the cardboard material. Well, it's not that usual to furnish the office space with cardboards, right?

So, to go back to Bloxes. What are they?
As per the website: "They are building blocks made of interlocking pieces of corrugated cardboard, folded together. Their unique shape and structure make them exceptionally strong and lightweight — you could build yourself a platform to stand on, and then pick it up and move it wherever you need to."
So, this got even a skeptic, like me, to start reading more about it and what we could eventually build with it. Not sure we can have a sofa, with cushion pillows on top of it, but definitely this idea opened our minds for exploration.
At the time of this writing we haven't made the decision yet if we'll go fully with it, but for sure we'll get some parts of the office "bloxed".
